The Government of Assam is organizing a grand celebration to mark the 100th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna, Xudhakantha Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, a multi-faceted genius, who was not only a musician but a lyricist and poet, an academician and a film maker of repute – all rolled into one. The legend has made immense contributions to Indian music and culture. Known as the Bard of Brahmaputra,his work has inspired generations across India and beyond.
Inaugural Ceremony of Year Long Celebration of Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna, Xudhakantha Dr. Bhupen Hazarika will be held on 8thSeptember, 2025 at the Veterinary Science College Playground, Khanapara, Guwahati. The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi has kindly consented to grace the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Individuals associated with arts, culture, literature, sports and related fields who wish to attend and experience the event in person may register through the portal by submitting their details. Selected attendees will receive formal invitations from the Department of Cultural Affairs, Government of Assam.
